This is a soulful, blues, pop song that delivers a feeling of nostalgia to the listener. "Because of You" is about the tragedy of a broken heart and the emotions that come with feeling unappreciated, unnoticed and unloved by the person who has expressed love in the past. This is a sad song. Because it is a live studio recording that allows organic textures with the bleeding of sounds through the mics, it gives the listener a feeling as though they were present during the recording.
